Cambridge Gatherings.
John Braithwaite (G 65-69) and a small group of OSBs (presently eight) meet regularly, every two months, in various pubs in Cambridge for a chat.
It is quite informal. As he says, ‘All are welcome to join us. We meet midweek at about 7.30 pm when the evening traffic has died down and people are free after work and things are generally quieter. We eat and chat for a couple of hours.’
One of our group, Robert Middleton (FN 50-54), is kindly taking some of us out on the Norfolk Broads in his boat in July, with an overnight stay in the local hotel.
Another Old St Beghian, soon to be a member of our group, performed recently in the Elm Tree pub as the lead singer and mouth organ player in his local blues band, and we went to support.
So, we are always up for fun.
Our London compatriots may want to give us a try as the non-stop train from Kings Cross to central Cambridge only takes 55 minutes.
If you live near and would like to join in, Pam Rumney will give details of future dates and locations via email, the Society website, Facebook and Instagram.
John may be contacted direct on 07717209399 or at braithwaite.john@icloud.com or details can be obtained via the Society office.
Our 13th of these Cambridge Gatherings will take place on Tuesday the 12th of August in the Red Lion in Grantchester, at 19:30 hopefully outside this time.
